Student Mentoring

CAREER MENTORING

The Career Mentoring Program is operated in partnership with the Columbus Hearing Impaired Program (CHIP). This program provides information on career choices to students with hearing loss living in Central Ohio. The Career Options program is located at Dominion Middle School and Ohio School for the Deaf. Professions who are Deaf or hard of hearing visit classrooms to share of how they overcame communication barriers in their respective fields. In turn, students are provided opportunities to visit these role models in their workplaces.

MAP-IT DEAF MENTORING

The Map-It Deaf Mentoring Program is designed in partnership with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) to assist Deaf, hard of hearing and Deafblind youth to prepare for life after high school. DSC employs a full-time Licensed Social Worker who works on-site at Northland and Upper Arlington High Schools every two weeks. The program focuses on preparing students for their future endeavors: college education, careers options, financial independence, stress management, and overall healthy living.
